NATO and Afghan forces have managed to fight back against the Taliban, regaining villages which were taken over by the insurgents.
In an offensive outside of Kandahar, over 35 insurgents were killed.
Several towns though remain under the control of the Taliban.
Afghan authorities have come out and stated on Wednesday that their forces, backed by helicopter gunships managed to recapture at least four villages from the Taliban.
The four villages were all located in southern Afghanistan.
Among the insurgents killed included a commander.
Two Afghan soldiers were killed in the fighting.
Insurgents are still in control of at leas 6 villages.
