President George W. Bush made the announcement on Wednesday that he plans to visit Russia early next month following the April NATO summit.
He will visit Russia to talk with President Vladimir Putin on various strategic issues.
One of the big topics on the plate will be the U.S. plans to build a missile defense shield in Eastern Europe.
Bush stated at the White House “I’m going to go to Russia. President Putin has invited me to go to Sochi to discuss the strategic agreement, a crucial part of which is missile defense.”
“We’re very optimistic we can reach an accord on some very important matters.”
Bush will be going following the April 2-4 NATO summit in Romania.
