A red alert was issued by the China Meteorological Administration stating that snowstorms and blizzards will continue in central and eastern China.

This is the worst weather to hit China in 50 years as migrant workers and students, as well as business travellers were all stranded.

The lunar new year holiday is coming but it appears that many may be kept grounded. New Year’s Day will fall on February 7th this year, but with this, that means the number of travellers is now at its peak.

Over the next few days the number stranded will likely top 600,000.
