The president of Pakistan Pervez Musharraf has vowed that the elections that will take place on January 8th in Pakistan will be completely fair and absolutely free from any type of fraud.

The opposition parties have strongly opposed this notion put out by Musharraf as they do not believe that it will be a fair election at all. They believe and fear that the elections will be filled with all kinds of fraud and wrong-doing and that Musharraf may rig the election to benefit his party.

The opposition parties continue to threaten to boycott the elections.

Opposition parties met to consider a boycott pact but failed to come to any sort of agreement. Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s party, the Pakistan Muslim League Party has stated that because of this they will take part in the general elections.

Musharraf stated that the timid behavior of the opposition parties is because they fear defeat. “This is a clear indication of their preparation for defeat. Now when they lose, they will have a good rationale, saying that it is all rigged, that this is all fraud.”

He stated “In Pakistan, the loser always cries.”

He continues to pledge the elections in January will be 100% fair.
