 The President of Georgia Mikheil Saakashvili has declared a 15-day state of emergency on Wednesday, this coming after more than 500 people were injured in the process of police trying to deal with protesters. Two TV stations were shut down in the process as well as the protesters continue to demand new elections. Police users water cannons, rubber bullets, and tear gas to deal with the hundreds upon hundreds of protestsers. As stated 500 have been injured already.

Saakashvili is blaming Moscow for the political troubles in the country as three Russian diplomats were also expelled.

He stated “We cannot let our country become the stage for dirty geopolitical escapades by other countries. Our democracy needs a firm hand of the authorities. I have no doubt about your patriotismm, and I have no doubt that we will always be able to find a common language for the sake of Georgia.”

The emergency bans rallies and strikes on the street and also controls the independent TV and radio news broadcasts for the next 15 days.
