Tropical Storm Noel continues on its path of destruction as heavy rain has been dropped in the Caribbean on Tuesday leaving 22 people dead due to floods and mudslides. Noel is now hitting Cuba and is making its way towards Florida as it inches closer and closer by the hour.

Warnings have alreayd been in effect for the majority fo South Florida including the Miami area. Waves have already began to pick up steam as they are crashing against the shore of Florida. Waves higher than 10 feet are already being reported as swimmers are being told to stay out of the water.

Forecasters are stating that the rains may miss Georgia, Alabama, and other states. Florida though may not be missed.

A Dominican emergency commission spokesman changed the death toll on Tuesday night to state that at least 36 people have died. Almost 12,000 people were driven from their homes in the Dominican Republic as the storm blasted through the island of Hispaniola which is shared also by Haiti.

Over 3,000 homes have been destroyed along with bridges collapsing, closing off exits to 36 towns.

Dominican congressman Sergio Vargas stated “The rains continue to fall and we faer for several families.”

As of 11 p.m. on Tuesday night, the center of Noel was almost on top of Camaguey, Cuba, 255 miles south of Nassau, Bahamas.
