Islamabad (EON) - The government of Pakistan has decided to suspend the police chief of Islamabad as well as two other officials on a judge’s orders after the protests against President Pervez Musharraf as well as violence erupting.
Many were injured when police charges lawyers and journalists during a rally which took place on Saturday against the ruler Musharraf. They were protesting his decision to reek re-election in voting on October 6th. Needless to say the police charges these protesters with batons and tear gas and injured quite a few of them.
CHief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudry ordered the government to arrest Islamabad Inspector General Marwat Shah as of Monday morning.
He stated that Shah “should be suspended and arrested because he is responsible for all that happened on Saturday.”
He also wants the city’s deputy administration chief and another police officer suspended, which they will be.
The Supreme Court of Pakistan is laying down the orders here and it seems that Mucharraf is going to be in a lot of trouble once again as he heads into his re-election vote next week.
