Washington (OTL) - California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger has sued state Controller John Chiang.
The two are going to court, as Schwarzenegger wants a judge to force Chiang to comply with a new law.
Democratic State Controller John Chiang has told Schwarzenegger already that he cannot meet his deadline.
He needs to figure out if California’s payroll system can change the pay of state workers to $6.55 an hour.
The idea behind this is to help with the deficit in California, as theyd o not want to pay state employees more than what is required under federal labor law.
The temporary cuts will impact 180,000 state workers, and have been met with major protests in the state.
The showdown in court between Schwarzenegger and Chiang has been expected.
