According to a report put out by the FBI on Monday, violent crime in the U.S. decreased by 1.4% in 2007.
The violent crime rate in the U.S. increased for two years in a row leading up to this decrease.
Violent crimes consist of such things as rapes and murders.
All four violent crime categories saw declines across the U.S. in 2007.
Rape decreased by 4.3%, while manslaughter and murder dropped by 2.7%.
Robberies and aggravated assaults dropped by 1.2%, while property crimes also dropped by 2.1%.
Violent crimes saw the biggest decrease in major cities.
