The expectation from the NOAA forecasters is that there will be between 12 and 16 named storms this year forming over the Atlantic.

6 to 9 of these storms are expected to be strong enough to be considered hurricanes.

There is a 65% chance that there will be an above-normal season for hurricanes, meaning over 11 named storms.

There is also a 25% chance there will be a normal season, and a 10% chance for a below-normal season.

Past trends over the years in the Atlantic, as well as La Nina are to blame for this prediction.
