U.S. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid has come out and asked President George W. Bush to work with them on a housing bill instead of just laying down a veto. The new bill would aid with all of the mortgage issues in America, relating to home foreclosures and such.
Reid wrote a letter to Bush stating “I write to express my disappointment upon learning that your senior advisers recommend that you veto the 2008 Foreclosure Prevention Act.”
Reid is asking Bush to reject the advice being handed down to him, and instead to work with Democrats to try and get a deal done and in place.
It is clear that it is a long-shot that Bush will actually reject the recommendation of his advisors, as Reid stated himself that it is unlikely that any agreement will be made with the White House.
The housing bill would need over 60 votes to be able to clear the Senate on Thursday.
