Civil rights leader John Lewis switched his support on Wednesday. He has dropped his support of Hillary Clinton and instead decided to support Barack Obama.
Lewis is a Democratic congressman from Atlanta and is a highly-prominent black leader.
He is one of the biggest defectors to date to switch from Clinton’s camp over to Obama’s camp.
Lewis put out a written statement which read that the campaign of Obama “represents the beginning of a new movement in American political history.”
He stated he wants to be “on the side of the people.”
Back in October, Lewis initially announced his endorsement of Clinton and appeared at many events of hers on television.
He has changed heart though, due to his own feeling apparently, as well as growing pressure from his constituents who also support Obama.
