Fires in Malibu are mostly under control

The wildfire has caused residents to evacuate but according to reports they can now get ready to head back to their homes. Officials are now stating that the fires in Malibu, California, which have destroyed over 5,000 acres of land and over 50 homes, is now mostly contained.

The wildfire has caused residents to evacuate but according to reports they can now get ready to head back to their homes.

The fire has been a disaster to say the least as over 5,000 acres were left in ashes, with over 50 homes destroyed in the canyons of Malibu.

The Los Angeles County Fire Inspector Ron Haralson stated on Sunday afternoon that “We’re getting a pretty good handle on it. The temperatures are cooling and winds have died down considerably. We’re in pretty good shape.”

Late Monday full containment of the fire is expected according to the Los Angeles Times.

This was the most destructive fire in Malibu in 15 years, causing more damage in terms of acres of land scorched than the wildfires a month ago.

Many firefighters have been injured due to to fighting the fires. There have been no reported deaths caused by it yet though.
