Hurricane Humberto smashes into southeastern Texas

Houston  - Hurricane Humberto crashed into southeastern Texas early Thursday making landfall near Galveston. Houston - Hurricane Humberto crashed into southeastern Texas early Thursday making landfall near Galveston.

The storn grew from a tropical depression into a hurricane in a very short period of time. When it hit lanfall it was a Category 1 hurricane which is the weakest out of the 5 scales. IT has maximum sustained winds of 85 mph.

The hurricane hit near High Island in Galveston County around 2 a.m.

Galveston Sheriff Deputy Kyle Cavness stated “Once it came through, it came through hard and it flooded most everything over here.”

The fear now is that it may be heading for Florida.

Two elderly couples were rescued from their homes along with many others.

The intensity was something no one could prepare for as it came out of nowhere.

The hurricane was moving northeast at 8 mph by 4 a.m., two hours after it make landfall. It was about 60 miles northeast of Galveston.

Galveston was hit by two tornadoes which have been confirmed as to be caused by the hurricane Humberto.
