An earthquake which measured in at a magnitude of 5.6 shook the San Francisco Bay area on Tuesday night.
The earthquake took place at around 8 p.m. on Tuesday night and hit 5 miles northeast of Alum Rock, 9 miles northeast of San Jose.
The U.S. Geological Service put out a lot of information in regards to the quake stating that it ranked it with a magnitude of 5.6. Residents have been reporting in stating that they definitely felt the quake as it was no minor affair.
There have thankfully been no reports of damage or injury made yet to the California Highway Patrol according to spokesman Tom Marshall.
The quake’s center was just east of San Jose. This is not far from the home of San Jose Mayor Chuck Reed.
There have been no reports of damage in San Jose as of yet either.
Michelle McGurk, the spokewsoman for Reed, stated “Nothing so far. The mayor’s fine. His home’s fine, City Hall is fine. We are getting assessments from city staff and as soon as we know if there’s any damage we’ll be responding.”
More should come out once the day continues on but it appears that this 5.6-magnitude earthquake has left virtually no damage.
