Things are getting nasty between the NHL and the New York Rangers. The NHL has filed a lawsuit against the owner of the Rangers, Madison Square Garden L.P.
The court papers will either kick the owners of the Rangers out of the NHL, or force them to sell the team.
This comes as punishment for the team accusing league officials of violating antitrust laws.
Back in September, the Rangers filed an antitrust lawsuit against the NHL,s tating the league threatened to fine the team $100,000 per day if they did not give up control of their Web site to NHL.com.
The NHL has asked a judge to agree that Madison Square Garden breached its contract by challenging league rules.
The brach can lead to the league voting to issue fines, suspend, or terminate membership in the league.
