It took Tiger Woods 19 holes to defeat Rocco Mediate in a playoff and win the U.S. Open on Monday.
This was Woods’ 14th career major and could end up being the most memorable in his amazing career.
Tiger Woods had a bad knee throughout the entire tournament, but fought through and hit a birdie on the 18th hole on Sunday to force the playoff.
Then in the playoff, Rocco Mediate fought back from being down 3 strokes to force a sudden death 19th hole.
That one extra hole was all Woods needed as he beat out Mediate, who would have become the oldest U.S. Open champion ever at 45-years, 6-months.
Woods was all smiles after, but was happy it was over as his knee was quite sore.
