The Hall of Fame coach resigned on Monday but stated that he will remain as team president.

37-year old assistant Spoelstra will be taking over for RIley.

Miami finished the season with the worst record in the NBA, 15-67, and also the worst of Riley’s 25-year career.

They also saw their star player, Shaquille O’Neil get traded away to the Phoenix Suns, and Dwyane Wade sit on the sideline for the majority of the year.

Riley will continue as president to try and rebuild the franchise which just two years ago won an NBA championship.

The biggest thing now is for the future of the Heat, as they could end up with a No. 1 pick in the draft, and will at least get a top-four pick.
