Washington (OTL) - Google has launched a new service which will allow you to buy songs you hear from YouTube videos.
The new service is going to be called “click to buy” and will allow YouTube users to buy the song you hear when watching a video.
From now, every single video that one watches on YouTube, will be added with a direct link to Amazon.com and the iTunes Store; just at the click of a button the user will be able to buy that given video. The link, titled as “Click-to-buy”, can be found effortlessly just below the toolbox underneath a video. For video game trailers, YouTube will add links to buy the game from Amazon.
They will start by selling songs from Universal Music Group, EMI Music, as well as the video game publisher Electronic Arts.
Google has started with just a US-only trial that sees ads appearing immediately below the video that link through to retail sites where they can buy related products.
The first click-to-buy ads are predominantly appearing against music videos, linking through to iTunes and Amazon, while ads also appear against Electronic
Much like YouTube’s other attempts to monetize its vast sea of video content, the Click to Buy links only appear on sponsored content from YouTube’s partners. The company has yet to shackle community-generated video with anything more than a banner ad on each page.
