Cupertino, CA- For many years Apple Computers has been pretty resilient and safe from viruses and security issues.
But recently the folks at Apple have had to deal with the Kamainsky DNS flaw that also affects other types of computers, and in patching the DNS issue Apple has went ahead and proactively addressed a number of other possible security flaws.
Security Update 2008-005 is a software patch kit that works to patch the DNS flaw that potentially would allow a hacker to take over a persons Internet connection, and that would give the hacker the power to clone a computer, turning the hapless victim computer into a virus spreading network computer.
Apple planned to release its new patch for some time; the announcement by software analyst Dan Kaminsky about the worldwide DNS vulnerability merely coincides with their plan in a nice little dovetail.
Updates for the Mac OS X and Mac OS Server are also being released, as well as other Apple Software updates and patches.
The computers that are sold and marketed by Apple are still in many ways more safe from virus or network hacker attacks, which is one of the marketing pluses that come with owning an Apple.
