California- In its initial startup effort, the first day at the office for Cuil search was a troubled one.
The first day was stricken with startup page fault errors, and intermittent outages, and so far the overall outlook for the new challenger to Google has not been a pretty one.
Still, Rome was not built in a day, and the new Cuil Search engine may still ramp up and show us what it is capable of, but so far the outlook has been well, messy.
The Cuil search engine was Co founded by Anna Patterson, who is responsible for much of the current architecture of Google search engine.
Anna Patterson was the person who designed much of what is currently the Google Search engine in 2006.
Cuil has some pretty impressive claims, if they can only live up to them. First of all they claim to be able to search over 3 times as many web sites as Google, and to be able to search them faster.
Investors have sank $30 million into the new Cuil effort, so it will be interesting to see how the Search engine competition plays out.
Cuil also claims a larger chunk of text and photos in their search effort, more of a magazine layout, according to their public relations information.
Google still claims to be the top of the heap in the Search Engine race, but time will tell who will emerge the victor down the road.
