Washington, D.C.- The Federal Communications Commission is on the edge of cracking down on Comcast and other large Internet Service providers who want to traffic shape, or restrict the volume of large down load users and file sharing customers.
While the FCC has not met to take assertive action yet, it has been confirmed that the FCC chairman Kevin Martin and at least two or three other members of the FCC regulation panel are ready to punish those ISP’s and large communications providers that are attempting to impose restrictions and heavy peer to peer regulation.
The FCC commission is a five-person commission, made up of the director and four members.
The Commissioner has at least two other votes, plus his own, which is a majority that is needed to take decisive action.
Many groups, businesses and industry have lined up and supported the idea of keeping the Internet free from such heavy handed regulation as Comcast and others seek to impose.
In Canada, the jury is still out regarding the actions of Bell Canada, as the Canadian Radio And Television Authority currently has an active complaint against Bell Canada and other large ISP’s for their traffic throttling and traffic shaping actions against their customers.
The mere fact that the United States FCC appears to desire to police and stop this type of traffic throttling is a good thing, and it is being heavily cheered by Internet Neutrality supporters.
