Toronto - It was only a matter of time, but the iPhone has officially been hacked/pwned.
A hacker group called the iPhone-Dev Team have made the official announced that they have “pwned” the iPhone.
Users can now run third-party software, thanks to their later release called Pwnage 2.0 for the brand new iPhone 3G.
According to a “Thanks for waiting” announcement post on the iPhone Dev Team blog, the new “Pwnage Tool 2.0” removes (or ‘jailbreaks’) application restrictions from the new iPhone 3G.
At this time it will not unlock your iPhone 3G for use on any GSM network (the software can still be used to unlock the first generation iPhone.)
Apple has been in an epic battle with unlockers since the original iPhone went on sale. With each iPhone software update, Apple plugged exploits that enabled hackers to gain full access to the handset.
