Russian Cosmonauts Take Risky Space Walk To Fix Soyuz Craft.Houston, Texas- The members of the International Space Station went on a special space walk on Thursday, venturing outside to remove a pesky bolt from the Soyuz TMA-12 re entry vehicle.

Russian Space Crewmembers Sergei Volkov and Oleg Kononenko went into space to remove a explosive bolt that is believed to be faulty and that may be a risk during reentry into the atmosphere of Earth.

The scientists in Russian have studied the re entry of the last several Soyuz crew modules into the Earth’s Atmosphere, as several of the last re entries have exhibited signs of possible danger.

After the careful examination of the records of the re entries, the Russian Space Agency decided to send its Cosmonauts on a Space Walk to retrieve the explosive bolt.

The bold was retrieved from the equipment compartment of the Soyuz craft.

The last several returns to earth by the Soyuz craft have landed some distance from their intended landing sites.

This has caused concern, but has been traced to the late separation of the Soyuz crew module.

By separating late, the re entry path is altered, and the crew compartment comes to a stop at a different location than is intended.
