Washington- Beginning July 1st the firm of Virgin Mobile USA will join other wireless carriers for competing for flat rate customers with its announcement of a flat rate plan for $80 dollars a month.
That will make the Virgin Mobile plan less than their rival AT&T who offers a $100 dollar flat rate plan and less than other similar plans by Verizon.
Sprint offers a plan also that is around $90 dollars a month for unlimited voice and data.
The difference is that up to now Virgin Mobile has been entirely a pre paid Pay-as-you go type of plan vs. the traditional wireless plans carried by the other national carriers.
The competition in mobile and overall telephone competition has heated up in recent months, with companies such as Vonage and Magic Jack Inc. pushing at the coat tails of major carriers with Internet based router services.
Customers have been flocking to the new different and formerly alternative type of phone services, and the major carriers have sat up and taken notice.
Each of the major carriers have jumped into the new competition in mobile phones and service to offset the losses some of them have experienced with customers seeking increased levels of service for less money.
