Scientists at the Mission Center for the Mars Lander in Arizona are very excited, and looking for additional signs of life with the Phoenix Lander has taken on a new intensity now that water has been discovered.
NASA and the Phoenix Lander found chunks of bright matter on the surface of the planet recently, and the disappearance by evaporation made the discovery a highlight, confirming that it was not salt deposits but in face ice water crystals.
Peter Smith of the Phoenix Lander project at the University of Arizona Tucson confirmed that the images that were seen from the Mars Lander have revealed the presence of water on Mars.
The key was that the substance disappeared from ice to a gas phase, and this indicated that the bright substance was water in the form of ice crystals.
This has scientists very enthusiastic, because it is a commonly held belief that for life to exist it needs to have the presence of water to exist.
