Google co-founder Sergey Brin is ready to go into space and has made a $5 million down payment on a ticket.
He has booked a seat on a future space flight with Space Adventures, a space tourism company.
The company stated he will be the founding member of the Orbital Mission Explorers Circle, which will feature 6 members who will all pay the $5 million deposit to launch on the first private mission to the International Space Station.
By 2011, they hope to run 1 trip a year to the ISS.
The down payment will go towards the cost of the space flight, which may end up costing $40 million or so.
Brin stated “I am a big believer in the exploration and commercial development of the space frontier and am looking forward to the possibility of going into space.”
