According to a new study, teens who are behind the wheel and driving ignore restrictions on cell phones.
The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety studied North Carolina’s law put into place in 2006 which states that motorists under the age of 18 will be fined if they are using a cell phone while driving.
They managed to study high school students as they left school and found that even after the law went into effect, cell phone use by teenage drivers was the same as it was before the law went into effect.
A separate phone survey of North Carolina parents and teens showed that there is support for the law, but over 60% stated it was never actually enforced.
