There has not been a Caribbean monk seen in over 50 years to this point.

The Caribbean monk is known as the West Indian monk seal and was the only subtropical seal native to the Caribbean Sea and the Gulf of Mexico.

This is the first type of seal to go extinct due to humans.

The Caribbean Monk used to be very common throughout the Caribbean Sea, Gulf of Mexico, and western Atlantic Ocean.

Hunters began to go after them though, causing problems with their population, leading to the extinction.
