NASA has announced that they have started to flex the robotic arm of the Phoenix on Mars.
The 3-month mission was pushed back a day when NASA ran into problems with the radio communication to Phoenix. All has been fixed though as they have started to flex the robotic arm which will be used to dig on Mars.
It will take 2-days to extend the robotic arm, which was folded for the landing and launch for protection.
Phoenix will be using the arm to dig into the soil around it, trying to find ice which should be just inches below.
NASA will be trying to see whether or not Mars ever could support primitive life.
