According to research from NPD Group, nearly 75% of people in the U.S. played video games in 2007. This was up from 64% in 2006.
The raw number is that 72% of people in the U.S. now play video games, with the number only expected to go up through 2008.
The report was done via a survey of more than 20,000 NPD consumer panelists.
Online gaming has shown the greatest level of growth. The report stated that 58% of people who play video games, play them online.
The preferred choice for online gaming was the PC platform, as 90% of online gaming activity was done on the PC.
19% was on video game systems, with the Xbox 360 leading the PS3.
3% play online games on their cell phones.
