Ask.com is taking a bold step in the name of user privacy as they are making it easier for users to keep what they search for on the internet a secret.
The Oakland search engine made the announcement that they will launch AskEraser on Tuesday, a brand new feature which is going to allow users have far more privacy. By using the feature, all future search queries from Ask.com will be deleted from their servers and not kept in any way. This allows the user to have total control over their own privacy and not have to worry about who is checking up on what they search.
Ask.com’s chief executive Jim Lanzone stated “For people who are worried about search privacy, we let them take the issue off the table completely rather than dickering around with questions about hwo we’ll store their search information or what we do with it.”
Ask.com stated back in July that they would make something for users to have more control over their privacy, and they sure have hit a home run with this new feature.
AskEraser deletes all search queries and any cookie information from the main Ask.com servers. This also includes IP addresses, user ID, and more. Every 12 months users will have to turn AskEraser on again.
One thing Ask.com will not do is delete past records, only in the future.
