The studies being done thus far are stating that the dinosaur is 67-million-years-old and is a hadrosaur named Dakota.

Investigations are underway to try and figure out what this dinosaur originally looked like. They are going to be learning a lot of information in regards to the soft tissues such as the skin. The hope is that this can lead to learning more about how dinosaurs evolved.

Phillip Manning, paleontologist at Britain’s University of Manchester stated “This specimen exceeds the jackpot.”

“We’re looking at three-dimensional skin envelope. In many places it’s complete and intact - around the tail, arms, and legs and part of the body.”

The hadrosaur or duck-billed dinosaur was discovered in 1999 originally by a teenage paleontologist Tyler Lyson on the property of his family in North Dakota.

The excavation is a part of the National Geographic Channel’s Dino Autopsy, set to air December 9th at 9 p.m. EST.
