The polar bear has been officially listed as a threatened species, mainly due to the huge decline in Arctic sea ice from global warming.
There have been many debates about what to do with the situation with the polar bears. Scientists from the U.S. Geological Survey stated that by 2050, two-thirds of the polar bear’s habitat will disappear.
Many were pushing to make the polar bears an endangered species so that they would get more protection. This will not be happening though as they only get listed as threatened.
The World Wildlife Fund and other environmental groups have been pushing the subject of greenhouse gas emissions, as global warming is becoming a major threat to the future of the polar bears.
