Shuttle Endeavour to dock with Space Station

Cape Canaveral (EON) - The US NASA shuttle Endeavour is getting ready to dock with the International Space Station on Friday The US NASA shuttle Endeavour is getting ready to dock with the International Space Station on Friday.

This comes after it took some minor damage to its external fuel tank during lift-off.

The 11-day mission of the Endeavour began on Wednesday when it took off from Cape Canaveral, Florida. The damage was caused by being hit by three small pieces of insulation material.

Once it docks with the International Space Station, Endeavour will flip and then be investigated to see the damage. The Endeavour is also carrying the first teacher in space in 21 years.

55-year-old Barbara Morgan was a back-up to the teacher McAuliffe on the Challenger mission which ended in tragedy on lift-off.

Astronauts will be installing an external stowage platform and replacing 3 gyroscopes on the Space Station during their 3 space walks.
