The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) finally has a lead in their investigation.

The outbreak has hit 42 states thus far, with 388 people falling ill and nearly 70 being hospitalized.

Minnesota health officials believe that the source may be a certain type of peanut butter.

A warning was issued in the state for King Nut Creamy Peanut Butter, which is not sold in stores but is used in various other restaurants, schools, hospitals, etc.

Lab testing revealed salmonella bacteria in 5-pound containers of the peanut butter.
