Washington (OTL) – Just as Obama takes office, Dr. Julie Gerberding, the director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) will step down.
Dr. Julie Gerberding will step down as the CDC director the same day President-elect Barack Obama takes office.
This comes after the Health and Human Services Secretary Michael Leavitt sent a letter to the director, asking her to leave office.
This move is an important one as President-elect Obama will put his own team in place.
Until that happens, Chief Operating Officer of the CDC William H. Gimson III will be the intermin CDC director.
