The cost of health insurance for people that are unemployed or are self-employed is next to impossible to pay. So, many are going with out right now and praying they don’t get sick or injured any time soon.

In many places there aren’t even enough clinics that will or can support those with out health insurance. There are times that many are having to do without. This is not good.

Given the recent change in the economy, health insurance companies need to step up to the plate and help others.

One of the ways of doing so, is by cutting costs. If you look at the averages many people don’t go in to see their doctors unless absolutely necessary and still end up paying extremely high premiums for little or no service for a year. On average a single person male or female will pay $100.00 or more per month and still have to pay an average of $20.00 to $50.00 for a co-pay to the doctor’s office per visit. But these aren’t the only costs that are being charged, then there are charges for medications if needed again making most reach into their pockets and paying an average of $10.00-$50.00 per prescription depending on the medication.

If you have a family that you are attempting to take care of and need to remain on insurance. For most family plans they are between $200.00-$500.00 or more a month. When researching individual insurance companies, many have said that they would give lower premiums but, this would only be for emergency situations. These policies only cover Emergency room visits, they don’t cover the costs of possible radiology work, inpatient care, and many other factors, this cost is just to step into the door of the emergency room.

Many families are trying to turn to there states to find ways of being covered. A good example of this is the Insurance programs for children. The program is said to be for healthy children, which most are. But what about those who are extremely ill and their parents are unemployed or self-employed and are below poverty level for a region. They won’t get coverage. Many state agencies are beginning to charge for this form of health insurance program. It doesn’t seem to matter if the family is below the poverty level, even if they are making an effort to find employment, our government isn’t willing to assist in the ways that it should.

If you attempt to get the rest of your family insurance through the state programs, unless you have a mental condition in most cases and have documentation of it, don’t look at your state or counties to help you. They won’t.

Many families are looking for alternative medical and health care. In smaller cities and regions, this is almost difficult, they are being forced to seek it in larger cities that can be as most as 200 miles away. Many people can’t even afford the transportation to get them to these destinations. What will happen next to the many that are unemployed and self-employed in the poverty level of our country? What other prices will be driven up for them not to be able to afford.
