Ottawa - Scientists from Harvard University recently conducted a study that was intended to prove the cause of aging. The cause was said to be the body’s cells ability to discern gene expression patterns. The cells’ ability to perform this function decreases as a person ages, causing the different signs of aging, such as wrinkles and decreased organ function.
Before this study was conducted, researchers were aware that certain proteins might be able to control disorders that are age-related in humans. This group of proteins are called SIRT1, and is activated, or stimulated, by a red-wine chemical, Resveratrol. It is said that this chemical not only effects aging, it also improves overall health. An extract is also being used from red wine in attempt to fight Type 2 Diabetes and some other related diseases caused by age.
This study gives hope to many who are fighting different aspects of aging, such as diseases or simple wrinkles. Scientists are working diligently to fight age and prolong the overall lifespan of humans and other mammals. This may be the next step in a new age for the Human race, allowing a healthier and longer life without the worry of age-related diseases and other nuisances caused by age.
