Washington (OTL) - According to a recent report, diabetes drugs are more expensive than ever.
U.S. researchers have come out and confirmed that doctors in the U.S. are starting to give more expensive drugs to diabetes patients.
The big concern here is that the bulk of these drugs are not thought to be any better than other older and less expensive drugs.
There is no long-term evidence that these latest drugs are more valuable than the cheaper drugs.
In the past six years, these new diabetes drugs cost 40% more than they did in the past 6 years.
It is likely that by 2050, there will be 29 million people in the United States with diabetes.
This is up from 21 million this year alone, and shows the costs going up.
The yearly cost of diabetes drugs has been found to have risen to $12.5 billion in 2007 from $6.7 billion in 2001.
