A new study has found that using CAD, or computer-aided detection for screening mammography improved cancer detection.

This is similar to the effect when mammograms are read by two different radiologists.

The study was led by Dr. Fiona Gilbert from the University of Aberdeen in the UK.

The CAD plus a single reading was able to detect 87.2% of cancer cases, far higher than with just a single reading.

The study was published in the New England Journal of Medicine.
