Toronto (OTL) - A new study suggests that by controlling ones salt intake, a person can control their blood pressure.
Researchers used 13 adults to monitor for their findings.
The study was led by Dr. Eduardo Pimenta from the Dante Pazzanese Institute of Cardiology in Brazil.
They found that those who were able to control their salt intake, had lower blood pressure levels.
Over time, those that had the controlled salt intake, where also able to cut their blood pressure medication.
The American Heart Association (AHA) says simple dietary changes to reduce salt consumption will only help in avoiding high blood pressure, but perhaps more importantly its adverse effects like heart disease.
The study was presented at the American Heart Association’s 62nd Annual Fall Conference of the Council for High Blood Pressure Research.
