Scientists able to turn off hunger hormone

Scientists have managed to develop a new procedure known as gastric artery chemical embolizatioin, or GACE.Washington (OTL) - Medical scientists have successfully suppressed the hunger hormone, ghrelin.

Researchers for the study were led by Dr. Aravind Arepally of the John Hopkins University School of Medicine.

This process has been proven to be successful in suppressing the hunger hormone in pigs.

The procedure forced the pigs to produce 60% less of the hunger hormone.

The study has been published in the journal Radiology, and could lead to a new way to treat obesity.
