Alberta- The reputation as a quality healthcare region for the Alberta province has been in place for some time, but despite this there are statistics that suggest that Alberta does poorly in the diagnostic imagine response compared to the rest of the nation.
The Canadian Institute of Health Information has revealed that in the years between 2003 and 2007 the number of MRI machines in private use in Alberta remained at 6 units.
During this same time period the number of MRI machine across the nation of Canada rose from 26 units to 41, revealing fairly normal growth in diagnostic imaging.
The number of diagnostic CT scanners in Alberta also remains stagnant at 3 units, but the same time period saw the number of CT scanners explode from 9 units to 21 units in that four-year period.
One of the private operators in Calgary said that few new private clinics are opening in the province because there are simply not many customers that can afford or are willing to buy a CT or MRI scan.
The imaging technique involved take detailed photos on the inside of the human body and allow doctors, surgeons and physicians to diagnose different illnesses and ailments.
