FDA finally discover source of salmonella outbreak

FDA food safety chief Dr. David Acheson confirmed on Wednesday that they have managed to find a match to the salmonella bacteria.Washington (OTL) - The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has announced that they have linked the salmonella strain to serrano peppers, as well as irrigation water at a farm in Mexico.

FDA food safety chief Dr. David Acheson confirmed on Wednesday that they have managed to find a match to the salmonella bacteria.

Dr. David Acheson told Congress, according to The Washington Post that “We have a positive sample in water used for irrigation and serrano peppers from the same farm that have matched the outbreak strain.”

The salmonella strain was found in the water, and pepppers at a farm in Nuevo Leon, Mexico.

This came just one day after the FDA had been under fire for the way they handled the salmonella outbreak, which has impacted over 1,300 people in the U.S.
