Boston (OTL) - According to a new study, women who have diabetes before they are pregnant are at an increased risk of having their infant have a birth defect.
Researchers from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) looked at data from 30,000 women who all had to go to birth defect centers across the U.S.
The CDC stated that women diagnosed with type 1 or type 2 diabetes face a far higher risk of developing birth defects.
Thede defects include thing ssuch as defects with the heart, spine, brain, limbs, kidneys, and more.
The study has been published in the American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology.
