The new announcement is part of an overall four year $741 million dollar health initiative strategy that will help residents that are dealing with diabetes.

Nearly 1,300 adults in the Ontario province will receive the Insulin pumps under the new pumps under this program, which will cost taxpayers about $62 million dollars under the four-year program.

The program already pays for these insulin type pumps for children under 18 since the year 2006.

These pumps deliver insulin through a small catheter placed under the skin, and it gives the patient relief from having to have several injections a day.

Overall the numbers of Ontario adults and children with diabetes has increased by 69 percent over the last decade, there is now estimated to be about 1.2 million diabetics in Ontario by the year 2010.

Other parts of the new health care program will group programs under “team based care” so that nurses, doctors, and others in the health care field will form program teams to consult and advise on patients in their care.
