New Study Reveals Positive Effects Of Resveratrol Substance.San Francisco-While not necessarily the modern fountain of youth, Red wine has been shown recently to have certain age related advantages when used in moderation.A new study shows that the substance in Red wine, Resveratrol, helps to lead to better bone density, healthier hearts and greater motor coordination in mice that were administered the substance.

Resveratrol also appears to help lead to fewer cataracts in the mice that were given it.

The new findings and study are being published in the online version of Cell Metabolism, and the study reveals that resveratrol is being looked at again by researchers and scientists interested in fighting the effects of aging.

“It does seem to slow down a lot of the main aging components and other parts of the aging process,” said Rafael de Cabo, one of the main authors of the new study.

Rafael de Cabo is a scientist and researcher with the Laboratory of Experimental Gerontology at the National Institute on Aging.

The ingredient in grapes, red wine, red grape juices, peanuts, blueberries, peanut butter and pistachio, resveratrol is undergoing a resurgence of interest as new research continues to emerge as to its positive medicinal qualities.

It is found in all of these foods, and a few other food sources as well. The results were promising but it is not yet known if humans were to consume an amount equal to what the mice consumed of resveratrol if the effects would be the same.
