Boston - Nebraska Beef has announced that they are expanding a recall that they announced earlier in the week. The recall will now include 5.3 million pounds of beef they produced between May 16 and June 26.
The recall was announced after federal investigators revealed that Nebraska Beef products were linked to an E. coli outbreak in Michigan and Ohio.
The E. coli outbreak has affected 41 people so far.
The USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service stated Thursday that the production practices of Nebraska Beef were not sufficient enough to control E. coli bacteria.
Some of the Nebraska Beef products were sold by Kroger Co., also linked to the outbreak.
