Officials In Michigan And Ohio Are Concerned
Columbus, Ohio-There have been 12 more cases of E. Coli illness reported as the officials in both Ohio and Michigan are searching to track down the specific cause.
There are 8 more cases in Michigan, and 4 more cases reported in Ohio as health officials in both states scramble to try and prevent any further spread of the disease.
It appears that at least some of the 35 cases found so far have been positively linked some sort of exposure to ground beef from Kroger Grocery stores.
Kroger Co. announced two days ago that they were voluntarily recalling all of their ground beef products that had a sell-by-date of May 21st and June 8th.
The United States Department of Agriculture Food Safety Inspection service has been working very closely with officials from both Ohio and Michigan to try and make sure that the current E. Coli outbreak does not spread any further.
The Kroger food stores have been involved in about 4 other meat recalls in recent years, and they always work to cooperate fully to make sure that their customers health is protected.
Right now the focus is on the supplier, and finding the source of the current E. Coli outbreak.
While Kroger seems to be the retailer, it is important to make sure that other tainted or infected meat is not being sold at other locations or grocery chains in the region.
